Matterform Media today released Spamfire 2.2, the latest version of Matterform's flagship anti-spam product. The new version includes many improvements requested by users. Spamfire 2.2 requires Mac OS X.
The new Spamfire features a re-written mail engine for improved reliability and speed. Version 2.2 fixes various mail fetching problems in previous versions of Spamfire, such as:
- Occasional 103 errors when checking mail.
- Failure to log off from a mail server, reporting "Checking connection..." indefinitely.
- Failure to remove mail from the mail server when instructed to do so by the mail client.
The newly-designed mail engine will also make it easier for Matterform to fix bugs and add features to future versions of Spamfire.
Version 2.2 contains other improvements and fixes as well. The complete version history is available on the Matterform Web site or by choosing Version History from the Spamfire Help menu.
Version 2.2 is a free upgrade for all licensed users of Spamfire 2. Spamfire 1 users can upgrade for a special price.
Spamfire was originally released in April 2002. A re-written version 2.0 was released in April 2005. Version 2.0 featured a newly coded filtering engine that brought many new features to the product, such as self-training Bayesian filters.
