By default, the Spamfire Setup Assistant will reconfigure your email program to use Spamfire's new email proxy feature. If your email program is not supported by Spamfire, we cannot enable the proxy automatically, but you can enable it manually.
The Spamfire Proxy feature only works with POP accounts. IMAP accounts must be set up in Spamfire as helper accounts.
If you prefer, you can also set up Spamfire to work as a side-by-side helper program.
After you have made the following changes to your email program, read about filtering your email for the first time.

Then open Spamfire, switch back to your email program, and check your email as you usually do. Your email program will connect to Spamfire and retrieve your filtered email. Spamfire will capture all your email account settings and store them in the Spamfire Account Preferences Window. Spam messages will be trapped in the Spamfire Mail List and will not be released to your email program.
If you quit Spamfire, the Spamfire Agent will stay open in the background so you can still retrieve filtered email in your email program. How Spamfire Agent works.
If you want to stop using Spamfire with a particular email account, you must simply reverse these settings changes in your email program.
