Version History

Version 1.3 — January 21, 2002

Added ability to check Matterform Web site for availability of new versions. Privacy note: When Spam Vaccine contacts the Matterform Web site, it does not transmit any information about your computer. It merely asks for an XML file and hangs up. Our server automatically keeps track of the number of requests for that XML file but does not track any information about you. You can disable automatic version checks in the Preferences window.

Version 1.22 — January 19, 2002

Version 1.2 introduced a bug that could cause Spam Vaccine to quit with an "OutOfBounds Exception" error if the attributes of an <a> element were not enclosed in quotes. Spam Vaccine v1.22 will now vaccinate those links correctly.

Version 1.21 — January 17, 2002

Spam Vaccine now creates JavaScript code that is more compatible with Netscape 6.2 and OmniWeb 4.0. You should re-vaccinate any pages that were originally vaccinated with version 1.1 or 1.2. See the upgrade instructions.

Improvements

1. On Macintosh, the Spam Vaccine application now comes to front when you drag an HTML file onto a Spam Vaccine window to vaccinate it.
2. Macintosh file type and creator codes are now preserved when a file is vaccinated. Previously, files were converted to plain-text after being vaccinated.
3. Existing attributes of the <a> tag are now preserved. Previously, Spam Vaccine would wipe out other attributes of a mailto: link, such as onmouseover. This had the undesirable effect of disabling many common JavaScripts.
4. No longer pops up a Spam Vaccine message when rolling over a vaccinated address in a Web browser.

Fixes

1. Fixed a problem that could cause Spam Vaccine to turn off the "Backup File" preference by default.
2. Fixed a problem that could cause JavaScript errors with Windows Internet Explorer version 4.
3. Fixed a problem that caused Spam Vaccine to regard Microsoft Word HTML documents as malformed.
4. Fixed a problem that could cause Spam Vaccine to fail to report email addresses that it was not able to vaccinate.
5. Fixed a problem that could prevent the Windows version from saving preferences after closing the main window.
6. Fixed a minor cosmetic problem in the Preferences/File Filter window.
